Ariana Grande warmly held hands with their Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo as they teased their upcoming movie at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

The shoot was eclipsed by scandal when it emerged Ariana was having an affair with her married castmate Ethan Slater, who has now left his wife Lilly Jay.

But the 30-year-old pop star steered clear of controversy as she bounded cheerfully onto the stage at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace this Wednesday. 

She stars as Galinda, later Glinda the Good Witch, with Cynthia leading the cast as Elphaba, the eventual Wicked Witch Of The West. 

'We both felt such a tremendous responsibility to honor these women and to pour our hearts, our souls, our tears - so many different pairs of lashes,' Ariana said, according to Variety. 'I’m really grateful for this journey that we’ve taken together.'

They presented a video sneak peek of their upcoming movie, including footage of Elphaba arriving at her university, Shiz, where she first encounters Galinda. 

Elphaba is also depicted during a later stage in her character's journey - turning into the Wicked Witch Of The West and acquiring her infamous pointy black hat.

Wicked is based on the smash hit musical of the same name that first opened on Broadway in 2003 with Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth in the leads.

The musical was in turn an adaptation of Gregory Maguire's bestselling 1995 novel of the same name, itself a spin-off from L Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz.

For their movie's big presentation this Wednesday, Cynthia and Ariana were dressed in themed outfits that were tailored to the aesthetics of their characters.

Ariana flashed her legs in a splashily frilly floral dress that was flecked with pink, the character Glinda is most often seen wearing.

With sprays of mesh designed to look like flower petals, the dress was cinched in to emphasize Ariana's enviably trim waistline.
